Winter Memories

First off I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year! Those cold winter days are finally upon us which makes it the perfect time to try one of our delicious soups! Try our Cheesy Broccoli Soup, Country Bean Soup or the Italian Wedding Soup, because there is nothing more satisfying than a hearty bowl of warm soup on a cold winters day.

It’s hard to believe but another year is quickly coming to an end. I find myself reflecting on accomplishments and fond memories. We have much to be thankful for & have appreciated this year. It’s never to late to start your own memories. Our Christmas Memories Keepsake Journal is a special journal that can be handed down through the generations and will be cherished year after year.

This is a season of giving and every year I find myself doing that one good deed. This year we are preparing gift baskets for those that are less fortunate than us. My heart goes out when I present them to the families and see that tearful joy in their eyes. I feel there is no greater gift than being the one that is giving. So during this time of year put a smile on a stranger's face, make a difference and warm someone’s heart.

This is also a special time of year for children and we have several things to make the season brighter! Our Mini Snowman Tea Set, or The Ultimate Sleepover Kit are our top sellers this season. This time of year is celebration time and be sure to try out our Holiday Spirit recipe below, it’s sure to warm the heart!

If you're having trouble staying warm this winter then curl up with a good book or magazine with one of our quilts. One of my favorites is the Victorian Throw. We also have an Apple Harvest Throw or Cherry Throw all promised to keep the chill off! In the next couple of weeks I will be getting in some more vintage items so please check back for those. I recently have added a Pink Hat Box to the Vintage Touch category that works wonderfully as a gift box or even a storage container. One other thing I must mention is the Victorian Antique Rug it’s very beautiful and perfect for your Victorian decorating.

I hope that all of you have the pleasure of enjoying the holidays with those you love. The greatest gift of all is family and friends. Time can never be replaced or done over, so it is important to take in every moment of joy life bestows.

Winter Recipe

6 eggs separated
6 Tblsp Crown Royal Whisky
1 ½ to 2 Cups super Fine Sugar
1/8 tsp Soda

Beat egg whites until stiff, add baking soda to whites and beat in.  Beat egg yolks until mixed.  Fold yolks into whites.  Gradually fold in whisky.  Beat in sugar as much as you can beat in at once.  The batter is now complete!

Add 2 cups milk to a 1 qt. glass measuring cup and heat in microwave on high for 4 - 5 minutes.  Add 1 to 1 1/2 oz. whisky to an 8 oz coffee mug.  Pour hot milk into the cup so it is about 3/4 full.  Add 1 to 2 Tblsp "Tom & Jerry" batter and stir in.  Mixture should turn foamy on top.

Sprinkle with nutmeg and enjoy the Holiday spirit!

Note: if you do not have Super Fine Sugar, add 2 cups of regular sugar to a blender in 1 cup increments and beat until fine.
